Death Owns All

Cold, grey mist circles round

Damp, mossy stones in the ground.

The gates are imposing, completely rusted.

No one visits, all forgotten.

Wooden benches, crumbling and rotten.

Once they were loved, one and all.

Loneliness hangs like a pall.

Silence is deep, a bottomless well.

Echoes along time, a ringing voice.

Where they are, was not their choice.

Unintended, memory dims,

Sounds and faces through a fog swim.

Life is short, measured in minutes.

The earth opened and swallowed the last.

Time for remembering has now passed.

In the spring the blossoms appear,

Renewal again seems so near.

Only the names marching on into time

Stand as a reminder. You were mine.

Fifth Anniversary

On April 8th, 2006 I had the unbelievable good fortune of being able to marry the best friend I have ever had. Randy and I chose a beach in the Malibu area, the surfers call the break 'Zeroes'. It was such a dazzlingly brilliant beautiful day, after weeks of rain. As we walked down to the beach a plane flew overhead and made a heart shape on the sky, not planned by us but a perfect sign for sure. The waves were such smooth, glassy walls. The surfers in the water did their thing during our ceremony and then they applauded us as we kissed. My father walked me down the aisle and I can't even tell you how happy that made me.

Things that I have learned through my marriage in the last five years: I am not always right (shock!). I have learned to identify what is really important. I have to quit making excuses for not doing things- there is no reason for it. I really, really, really love being home. I am an extremely lucky, blessed, spoiled girl. It does not hurt to apologize, it is necessary and important for both people involved. There is no where I'd rather be than right here. To be able to love someone completely and unconditionally and to have that love returned is the greatest feeling in the world, it's like being elevated above life on earth and makes my heart sing. My husband is the coolest- ever. Randy, I love you more than I'll ever be able to put into words.

Virginia City, Montana

I recently took a trip with my nephew Randy and my parents to this little town in Montana. They have preserved much of the original buildings with their contents. I could look at the old dusty stuff forever!

Hipstamatic Photos

I have a new app on my iphone that I think is bomb. I'm practically addicted to it and I'm no photographer. I just think that it does some really cool things!

Merry Christmas

Home Sweet Home

This year's tree- the tallest yet!

As I was out shopping today, I had a lot of time to think about what I like most about Christmas. I had a lot of time to think because of the long lines to check out and traffic. So, instead of doing my usual fuming and cursing under my breath, I thought I could be mentally creative until I could get home and write a new blog. So here it goes- not necessarily in order, but family always comes first!

What I love about Christmas:

Being with family

Christmas tv shows and movies

Decorating the tree and the smell of it

Ornaments

Lights

Egg Nog

Divinity

Christmas carols

Finding the perfect gift

Reading "The Christmas Carol"

Baking

Wrapping presents

Parade of lights at the harbors

Chocolate covered marshmallow Santas

Secret Santa with friends at work

Dressing up my dogs in costumes

Scrooge the musical- my all time favorite

My Mom's Chex Mix and Mother Goose popcorn

The look of snow, as its falling in areas other than where I live

I hope that all of you have the best holiday ever, and as Tiny Tim said "God bless us, everyone!"
