Happily Ever After or Vote No On 8, Vote No To Hate

On March 26, 1989 a little girl was born. She was 7 pounds and 10 ounces, 23 inches long. She had brown eyes and brown hair. She was perfect, all ten fingers and toes. She was like most little girls, loved playing with Barbie dolls, riding her bike, watching Disney movies (101 Dalmations was her fav.). She grew up way too fast, like all children it seems. She is living on her own now, working full time and going to college. She is also in love, with someone who loves her equally. She has hopes for a beautiful wedding, having her own family. In time they hope to have children. She'll be a good mommy, I know that for sure. All of these things are dependent on the voters here in California. They have the power to decide, with a vote of no to some of the most intolerant, narrow minded legislation in recent history, whether marriage is for everyone. Please stop before voting and consider for a moment how one mark on one piece of paper, while not affecting your own life directly ( because marriage for ALL really only affects the individuals involved) will impact my daughter's life in a way that could be devastating. Or look at things this way, remember how outraged everyone became when one child killed another over being gay, just last year? How are our children going to learn tolerance and acceptance of each other as human beings when they see us divided over who can get married and who can't? We wouldn't consider restricting whether people could marry based on race or religion . Why should sexual orientation matter to anyone? Do I know if my neighbors are gay or straight? No, I don't, nor does it matter what they are. They are human beings and as citizens of this country are allowed all of the freedoms and protections that the constitution affords. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that gay people are excluded from life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. My daughter deserves to have a happily ever after, just like every other son and daughter in this country. Let's be an example to the rest of the country about how we Californians are standing up for our fellow citizens, supporting their constitutional rights. PLEASE VOTE NO ON PROP 8!
